Professor Stephane Parola has received a European PhD in 1996 under the supervision of Professor L.G. Hubert-Pfalzgraf (University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, France) and Professor S. Jagner (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden). He has spent 15 years at the University of Lyon and Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon developing soft-chemistry routes towards structured hybrid materials, control of organic-inorganic interfaces, chromophore-materials interactions ; and their applications in optics, Health care, catalysis, photocatalysis, textiles. He is now heading the research group “Functional Materials and Photonics” of the Laboratoire de Chimie ENS Lyon at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, University Lyon 1, CNRS, France. His main research interests are in the fields of molecular engineering of organometallic chromophores and metal-organic precursors (alkoxides), the sol-gel process, hybrid materials and nanomaterials, photonics and plasmonics. He has published over 60 papers, book chapters, and holds 12 patents in this research fields.
