The Conference Trip:
- A Ljubljanica Boat Cruise is a unique experience which will remain in your memories forever.
You will experience a boat ride on Ljubljanica River with the first innovative and only wooden boat, handmade in Slovenia. The 10m flat-bottomed vessel is constructed of solid larch and oak wood, and can host up to 50 people at a time. The main purpose of the boat is the transport of passengers and boat rides for tourists.
The boat ride lasts 45 minutes and offers views of most of the old town’s major sights from a unique vantage point. First, we head towards Špica where Ljubljanica splits into two, offering a view into nature. We turn back at Livada. On the way, you can enjoy the view of Ljubljana Castle, some of the embassies and newly renewed river banks. As we approach the old town, you have a magnificent view of the Cobblers’ Bridge, Franciscan church, Tromostovje or the Triple Bridge, the Market, and charming baroque houses. You get a special view of new bridges such as Butchers’ Bridge or Grain Bridge. We turn again at the famous Dragon Bridge.
- After the finished boat ride we will continue with Guided Ljubljana Sightseeing Tour (duration aprox.2h). Join us on the Sightseeing Tour through Ljubljana city, a must for all first time visitors to the city and Slovenia and also for those who have already been here.
A two-hour tour will be by foot with a local guide leading us around:

- Town Hall
- Triple Bride (Tromostovje)
- Church of St. Nicholas (Cathedral)

Ljubljana Facts:
Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia, which itself is a member of the European Union. The population of Slovenia is approximately 2 million.
- Ljubljana location: Central Europe
- Ljubljana population: 288.250
- Ljubljana altitude: 295 m
- How big is Ljubljana? 163.8 km²
Some are breaking their tongues trying to pronounce the name of the capital of Slovenia. There are “-lj”s and even “-blj”! What the heck!? But no worries, it is not difficult at all when you find out that “J”s in Slovenian are pronounced as “Y”s in English.
The development of Ljubljana dates back to Roman times, where the fortified Roman settlement laid on the area of today’s Ljubljana. Roman name for Ljubljana was Emona. After Emona was destroyed by Huns, Slavshad arrived and built a town under the present castle hill, that developed into medieval Ljubljana(known as Laibach). It was under the Habsburg rule until the colapse of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in 1918 and part of Yugoslavia until 1991.
